Equipment
The Research Center has the following items available for your use.
- Free wireless Internet. You can access the Internet from a laptop or tablet.
- Computers. Windows-based public access computers are provided to assist researchers in conducting research related to our collections or to Montana history. Saving to a thumb drive is free. If you prefer to print, each page is 25 cents (35 cents for mail-order requests).
- Photocopiers. We allow photocopying of most materials; however, we recommend bringing a digital camera for materials we deem too fragile for photocopying. Photocopy costs are:
- Single-sided: 25 cents each (35 cents for mail-order requests)
- Double-sided: 40 cents each (50 cents for mail-order requests)
- Digital microfilm readers. You can save or print images from microfilm. Saving to a thumb drive is free. If you prefer to print, each page is 25 cents (35 cents for mail-order requests).
- Book cradles, wedges, and weights. These items support fragile materials and stabilize items used in research.
- USB flash drives. We sell drives for $5 each. (You may also bring a flash drive with you.)
- Pencils. We do not allow pens in the reading room.
- Lockers and padlocks
- Magnifying glasses
- VHS/DVD player with TV and headphones
- Audiotape player and headphones
