Maps

The Research Center houses a large collection of printed and manuscript maps, including historical U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps, initial township plats and homesteads of the U.S. Surveyor General, Sanborn Fire Insurance, railroad right‑of‑way, and mining maps.

Selected historical maps can be found in the Mapping Montana and the West digital collection, a collaboration between the University of Montana Mansfield Library and the Montana Historical Society Research Center.
