Education and Events

The Montana Historical Society Outreach and Interpretation Program provides an exciting variety of educational resources and programs for both children and adults. For those visiting the Society, docent-led gallery tours bring Montana history to life for groups of all ages. We provide guided tours of the Original Governor's Mansion, and you can learn more about the Capitol's history and art at our Capitol website. We also offer a wide array of events, public programs, workshops, conferences, and family activities throughout the year. Hands-on History footlockers, our middle school textbook, Montana: Stories of the Land Companion Website, and other outreach resources deliver the Society to the classroom. Our National Register sign program interprets important buildings and sites, promoting the importance of local history in communities all across the state while the Centennial Farm and Ranch Program celebrates Montana's agricultural heritage.
