The history of African Americans in each Montana city is unique, involving different people, places, and stories.  The Identifying Montana’s African American Heritage Places Project has compiled synopsis histories of nine cities that had African American populations in the late 19 th and early 20th centuries.  In addition, Historic Property Record Forms for significant structures in those nine cities are also available by clicking on the city pictures below.
