On
January 18, 2013 in a
ceremony held at the Myrna Loy Theater in Helena, the
Montana Historical Society State Historic Preservation
Office honored four historic preservation efforts including
former Lt. Governor John Bohlinger, recognized for his
outstanding contributions to historic preservation.
Certificates were also presented to owners of
39
properties listed in the National Register of Historic
Places in 2011 and 2012 from across the state. Governor
Steve Bullock and Lt. Governor John Walsh participated in
the ceremony. Governor Bullock delivered the
opening remarks
recognizing the importance of historic preservation in
Montana.![]()

In addition to recognizing former Lt. Governor Bohlinger, Montana Historic Preservation Awards were presented to the Silver Bow Brewery Malt House in Butte for Outstanding Local Preservation Project, the Babcock Theater Building in Billings for Outstanding Preservation Rehabilitation Project, and to Flathead County for the Flathead County Courthouse in Kalispell for Outstanding Heritage Stewardship. |

| The ceremony also announced the establishment of the John N. DeHaas Award to recognize professional work and/or avocation efforts that further the cause of historic preservation in Montana. Retiring State Historic Preservation Review Board members were also recognized. | ||
