We are open to the public on:
Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. No appointment necessary.
We are closed every Sunday and Monday, and on the state holidays and holiday weekends listed below.
Important notice: Saturday Hours to be Discontinued and Photograph Archives Reference Hours to be by Appointment Only.
As a result of legislation passed by the 2017 Legislature and signed by Governor Bullock, the Montana Historical Society is facing severe budget cuts. Unfortunately, this means that positions and services must be cut and, effective August 18, 2017, we will no longer be able to offer public reference hours on Saturdays or in the Photograph Archives. Access to photographs will still be available through the main reference room. We are deeply distressed by this development and apologize for the inconveniences imposed.
