Author Submission Guidelines
We are pleased that you are interested in publishing your manuscript with the Montana Historical Society Press.
We are interested in thoroughly researched, well-written manuscripts on the history of Montana and the region. Evidence of research must accompany submissions, either in the form of footnoting or bibliography. Strict historical accuracy is essential: we do not publish fiction or manuscripts that include invented dialogue, no matter how authentic the background may be.
All manuscripts go through a formal review process. Submissions should be less than 400 manuscript pages and prepared according to the fifteenth edition of the Chicago Manual of Style . Both text and notes should be 12-point type and double spaced. We are always pleased to receive suggestions for illustrations (a list of images and repositories as well as, if possible, photocopies of possible images) along with the text.
