Price List for Reproduction Fees
(Effective 1/2005)
PUBLICATION USE: Applies to the use of a reproduction in print, film, video, or digital format. The fees may be waived for use by officially recognized nonprofit organizations (nonprofit reciprocity is understood) and for use by the Montana news media in television newscasts or newspaper articles with permission. The following use fees are assessed in addition to photo-duplication costs; payment of use fees may be delayed until publication:
COLOR IMAGES-
Rental of color art images in our collection
4 x 5 Transparency/or digital image rental-
For Profit- $75 for three months and $75 for each additional three month period.
Non Profit- $35 for three months and $35 for each additional three month period.
Inadvertent loss or damage to color transparency $150 for each image.
Color Publication use fees for Books and Periodicals and CDs and DVDs-
For Profit- Use of color image one time $150
Non Profit- No fee for negotiated reciprocal agreement, otherwise $75
Color Puplication use fees for color image worldwide-
For Profit- $300
Non Pofit- $150
BLACK & WHITE IMAGES-

Under 5,000 print run $15 per image
5,000 - 9,999 print run $20 per image
10,000 - 49,999 print run $40 per image
50,000 & over print run $85 per image
*Periodicals/Serials (For Profit)
Under 50,000 circulation $20 per image
50,000 - 99,999 circulation $40 per image
Over 100,000 circulation $85 per image
*Fees are for one-time use, in one publication, in one language, and distribution only in North America. Worldwide distribution for one-time use in one or more languages is double the prices listed above. The same fees apply to subsequent edition

Local (Montana) $85 per image
Regional $110 per image
North American $160 per image
Worldwide $800 per image
**Commercial Films, Television, Videos, Slide Presentations, World Wide Web-
Local $20 per image
North American $40 per photograph
Worldwide $100 per photograph
**Worldwide rights for all media in perpetuity are $100 per photograph.
Other Uses
For any commercial use not specified above, fees will be negotiated.
Note: All users purchasing prints for any reason other than personal use must submit a request for permission to use photographs. Requests for publication, reuse, or changes in use must be submitted in writing to the Museum and Education Division.
