EDUCATORS AND MUSEUM OFFICIALS
FROM ACROSS THE STATE GATHER FOR
NATIVE AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Museum officials and educators from across the state gathered in Helena May 31 and June 1 for a special two-day workshop under the new "Best Practices in Museum Education: Museums and Schools as Co-Educators" program sponsored in cooperation by the Office of Public Instruction and the Montana Historical Society. Society Director Richard Sims and State Superintendent Linda McCulloch came up with the program to help communities use all their resources to implement "Indian Education for All." Museums learned more about proper display and interpretation of Native American exhibits and artifacts, and educators learned more about how to use them in their Indian Education curriculum. Sims said that one of the best things to come out of the workshop was the raport that was developed between educators and museum officials.
