Every five years the State Historic Preservation Office is charged to create or update a five-year plan for historic preservation for the State of Montana, as a condition for receiving annual federal funding through the National Park Service. This year (2017), SHPO will prepare a revised plan for 2018-2022. The state plan serves as a guide, with goals and objectives not only for SHPO use but for all Montanans and state organizations interested in the preservation of Montana’s significant historic, archaeological and traditional cultural places. SHPO welcomes and is soliciting public input in this endeavor.
